Cameroonian companies are using the 4th Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF) in Algiers to put their products in the spotlight and win new markets. Running from September 4 to 10, 2025, the event has drawn dozens of exhibitors from across the continent, with Cameroon showcasing its strengths in agribusiness and cosmetics.
The company Agrifood and Beverage is promoting cocoa-based items and locally grown coffee, while other firms highlight made-in-Cameroon cosmetics. The exhibitor sees the trade fair as a chance to secure partnerships that will help distribute their products across Africa and beyond.
As a reminder, at the previous edition of the fair in Egypt in 2023, Cameroon’s National Shippers’ Council opened talks with Algerian firm Alfilect. The discussions led to a milestone shipment on July 5, 2024, when 99.4 tons of aluminum ingots left Douala port in Cameroon for Algeria. It was the country’s first containerized export carried out under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
This is precisely the kind of business the IATF was designed to foster. Afreximbank, one of the event’s co-organizers, calls the fair “a platform for companies to present their goods and services to buyers, while exploring opportunities and sharing knowledge.”
Jointly organized by Afreximbank, the African Union Commission, and the AfCFTA Secretariat, the IATF is meant to harness the potential of the AfCFTA single market. The bloc covers more than 1.4 billion people and represents a combined GDP of over $3.5 trillion. The next edition of the trade fair will take place in Nigeria in 2027.
