After being abandoned in the mid-1980s, construction of the complex meant to house the services of the governor of Cameroon’s Far North region is set to resume in 2026. The governor officially relaunched the project in January, with plans to adapt the structure to current standards and amenities. The site includes a six-story building spread over six hectares.

The future complex will consist of three buildings with a total of 109 offices and eight meeting rooms. The project also includes four parking areas with a combined capacity of 120 vehicles, landscaped green spaces, and the rehabilitation of one kilometer of urban road.

Completion of the project is financed with CFA7 billion from the Special Program for the Reconstruction and Development of the Far North Region (PSRDREN). Program coordinator Alhadji Magra Massaou said the works have been awarded to Cameroonian companies, including the Setrec Sarl and ISD Sarl consortium.

Created in 2022 by the president to support the socio-economic recovery of the Far North, a region affected by the conflict with Boko Haram, PSRDREN had secured more than CFA600 billion by 2025 to fund various infrastructure projects.
