The Douala City Council is organizing an information roadshow from June 1 to June 12, 2026, aimed at promoting economic empowerment among young people and women across the city’s five districts. The initiative seeks to raise awareness of existing support programs and connect participants with opportunities to launch income-generating businesses.

Operating through several community-based locations, the roadshow will showcase sectors the municipality considers promising for entrepreneurship, including agriculture, fisheries, livestock farming, trade, crafts, and information technology.

Information and guidance sessions will help aspiring entrepreneurs identify available financing options, training programs, and business-support mechanisms. For city officials, the initiative is a local response to persistent challenges related to economic inclusion and underemployment, particularly among young people and women.

The municipality hopes to encourage entrepreneurship, support the creation of small productive businesses, and strengthen the contribution of these groups to local wealth creation. In a city facing rapid population growth and sustained demand for jobs and income opportunities, the roadshow is also intended to serve as a mobilization tool.

By focusing on activities linked to production, services, and innovation, the City of Douala aims to connect project leaders more directly with support institutions and existing public programs. Beyond raising awareness, the initiative reflects the municipality’s effort to make economic empowerment a more practical tool for inclusion.

The stated objective is to create a stronger link between the needs identified in local communities and the support mechanisms capable of turning early-stage ideas into sustainable businesses.
